In just a few minutes, you can turn your traditional irrigation system into a smart irrigation system thanks to the Neo Wifi irrigation controller with control from your phone and automatic activation according to time schedules and weather conditions.
Why does the Neo NAS-SS01W9 have this price?
The Neo irrigation controller integrates Wifi technology, is compatible with the Tuya Smart Life App, can manage up to 16 individual zones with local and remote control, and is an excellent compromise in terms of quality/price.
Advantages and disadvantages of the Neo Wifi irrigation controller

Neo NAS-SS01W9 User Tutorial
The advantage of this Wifi Neo water timer is that it is Tuya compatible.

Tuya is a giant ecosystem of different brands in the market such as Carrefour, Lidl, Action, Moes, Nous, Woox and many more.

And it is for this reason that the Smart Life app has been downloaded more than 10 million times and is one of the most popular in the world.

And this may be a criterion to take into account, having a product of a global platform, given that it is used by thousands of brands and if for some reason the company that manufactures this Wifi irrigation controller stops making it, Tuya’s servers will continue to be active.

Moreover, being so popular, this application is comprehensive and easy to use, so it is recommended for any user.

GreenIQ was an example of what can happen when a system relies on its own servers: when the company closed down, irrigation could no longer be controlled remotely.

Another interesting criterion is the price. While Green IQ offers a 16-zone irrigation controller at 299 euros, this Wifi Neo irrigation controller is available at 59.99 euros.

Neo NAS-SS01W9 General Features
If we open the packaging, we discover different elements. To begin with, we have an instruction manual.

A 24V AC – 2A power adapter.

Plugs and bolts.

And of course, the Wifi Neo irrigation controller.

This Wifi irrigation controller allows you to connect up to 16 valves so that you can control up to 16 areas of your garden individually.

It works with WIFI technology so if you have internet at home, you will be able to link it in a few seconds to your network, and thus, have control from your phone of up to 16 irrigation zones in your garden with the free Smart Life application.

At the top, there is a display with LED indicators to show different information.

Each zone has an LED indicator allowing you to know which zone is currently activated for watering.

When the display shows flashing blue LEDs, the Wifi irrigation controller is waiting for your configuration.
- Fixed blue is the selected irrigation zone.
- Flashing blue is an active irrigation.
- Solid red is an error or problem in the valve.
- Red and blue alternating means that the limit of 4 zones watering simultaneously has been reached.

We also have a touch panel that allows you to manually select watering zones, start, stop watering and select the next or previous zone. It is another interesting detail when using smart devices in our home, being able to still have a physical control, without having the need to take out the phone in some contexts.

Next to it, we have a reset button, which also serves to link the Wifi irrigation controller to our Smart Life app on our phone.

Below, we have the different connections. 1 to 16 correspond to each irrigation zone that can be wired.

“C” corresponds to the “common” connection.

And for the power supply, we have 2 options, either we connect to electrical cables at 24V AC at the corresponding connections.

Or simply connect the power supply included in the packaging to the irrigation controller and the power socket in your home.

How to install the Neo Wifi irrigation controller
To install the Wifi irrigation programmer, we can first fix it to the wall thanks to the plugs and screws included.

Now, we can do the electrical wiring.

Although it is a simple process, you must have electrical clearance, adequate protections, make sure that the power is turned off and that no one can activate it while you are wiring, and you must verify the absence of current. If not, I recommend you contact a professional to carry out the electrical wiring. This content is informative and I am not responsible for any material damage or risk to your health.

We can wire each of our valves to connections 1 to 16 of our Wifi Neo irrigation controller and connect the common wire to one of the “C” connections on the right. And we can connect the irrigation programmer to the current, either by wires with a transformer with 24V AC or with the power supply that comes included.

In the user’s case, he already had an old irrigation controller and simply had to do the same electrical wiring with this smart irrigation controller.

In your case, you manage 3 zones in your garden.

How to pair the Wifi Neo irrigation controller
To pair your irrigation controller, you must use the Smart Life App on your phone.

From this application, click on the “+” icon and “Add device”.

Now, you must press the reset button on the irrigation controller for more than 6 seconds.

That’s it, it appears in the interface of your application so now, you will have control of your irrigation from anywhere in the world, with no monthly fees.

NAS-SS01W9 Irrigation Controller Features
Let’s discover the functions of this irrigation programmer in Smart Life.
To begin with, on the main page, we can see the weather conditions in our city. This information will allow us to decide whether or not to water depending on whether it is raining or snowing.
At the bottom right, we have a watering can icon.

This icon takes us directly to the manual watering settings, where we can set up an immediate watering. “Irrigation method” is the irrigation method and we have 2 options.

“In order” means that the valves water one by one, in sequence. For example, zone 1 for 5 minutes, then zone 2 and so on. This is a recommended option if you are using a single pump or a water supply with limited pressure.
“Simultaneous execution” means that all selected zones are watered at the same time.

Then, the “All region” option allows you to activate watering in all configured zones and you can set a manual watering time in all these zones.

The “Single setting” option allows you to activate desired zones with a customised watering time for each one. We can click on “Start irrigation” to start this manual irrigation customised to our settings.

Below, we have 4 icons.

The first is the “Rain and snow days delay” function, which is a delay for rain or snow days.
We can decide to automatically pause scheduled watering for a certain number of hours when rain or snow is expected or simply ignore these conditions.
For example, if you choose 24 hours, automatic watering will be paused for 24 hours in case of rain or snow.

The second icon, called “Add timing”, allows you to schedule automatic watering at this time.

We can set the start time for this irrigation.

We can then select all zones with a defined watering time or select zones individually with each zone having its own personalised watering time.

We can decide to water each zone individually or all zones at the same time.

Then, we can choose which days of the week we want to activate watering. We can also decide to water on odd days or even days of each month.

When you click on “Save”, you will have an automatic watering schedule and you will be able to view, deactivate or modify it at any time.

The third icon gives access to each zone of our irrigation.

We can add a photo, edit a custom name, and we will also see your watering history and next scheduled watering.

And the fourth icon allows you to view the history over time of all watering activities, i.e. the activation time, the watering zone and its watering time.

Integration of the Neo irrigation controller in Home Assistant
The user who has different smart devices in his home, uses the universal Home Assistant software, which is one of the most complete solutions in the world to unify your installation with different brands and technologies on the market.

Since you have your Home Assistant Green hub, by installing the add-on called “Tuya“, which we have already discovered in other content how to set it up in a few seconds, you automatically have your irrigation scheduler added in Home Assistant.

But it is worth noting that only zones 1 to 8 are visible in Home Assistant and that is more than enough for this user as he controls 3 zones in his garden.

Automations with Neo NAS-SS01W9
The whole point of a smart home is to be able to create different automations according to your criteria.

Although you can have an irrigation programmed according to the weather conditions directly from the Smart Life application, it is possible to create more automations, as is the case of the user who has 2 rain sensors that we have already discovered in detail in other contents and that allow you to have an even more precise irrigation.

If rain is detected specifically in his garden, the user decided not to water at this moment. Of course, this is an example of automation and as I often say: your imagination is your limit.

In short, this Wi-Fi water timer allows you to fully automate your garden and save water, with intelligent programming and remote control from your phone, anywhere in the world.

In addition, we can integrate it with humidity or rain sensors so that the system only irrigates when necessary.
