Tutorial on using the Woox R3569 camera
Let’s find out all about the Woox R3569 camera.
General characteristics of Woox R3569
If we open the packaging, we find various elements.
To start with, we have the Woox R3569 smart camera.
There are various smart cameras on the market, but one of the special features of this Woox R3569 camera is that it works with the Tuya ecosystem.
Instead of relying on the terms of a manufacturer who has their own application and who, as I’ve seen in the 11 years I’ve spent immersed in the smart home market, tend to abandon their projects in most cases and, as a result, you may find it difficult to continue using your smart device.
This camera uses the Tuya ecosystem, a project shared with different brands around the world and which you can bring together with the Smart Life application.
This application, shared by a large number of companies, should be a criterion of reliability since, even if the company of your camera abandons its project, you will still have control of this R3569 camera thanks to the Smart Life application.
Moreover, physical shops such as Carrefour and Lidl are now also selling their smart appliances with this Tuya ecosystem.
It’s a very interesting gamble, and that’s why this R3569 camera could be a good choice.
But that’s not all: thanks to Smart Life, you’ll be able to use other smart devices in your home and continue to use the same application, avoiding the need to have different applications for each device, knowing that you’ll also be able to make these devices interact together with different automations, which is another essential criterion if you want to enjoy an advanced smart home experience.
That’s what we’ll see below with the installation of a user who, as well as adopting this Woox R3569 outdoor smart camera, has also set up various Tuya-compatible smart devices.
This Woox camera operates outdoors with an IP65 protection rating and a weather-resistant design. It is therefore protected against rain, sun and UV rays.
Another great advantage of this R3569 camera is that it can be installed without any cabling. No network cabling, no power cabling. It works via WIFI and a solar panel.
This solar panel is included in the packaging and connects via USB-C to your Woox camera.
The camera is battery-powered, so even if you’re out of the sun for several days, it will still work and, according to the manufacturer, on a full charge it can last up to 3 months.
Next to this USB-C port, an ON/OFF button lets you turn the camera on or off at any time.
This camera is supplied with a bracket.
And wall-mounting accessories.
The solar panel also comes with a rotating bracket for fixing it in the best place, as well as plugs and screws.
How to pair the Woox R3569 camera with Smart Life
If we want to see our camera image from our phone, we need to be connected to our 2.4 GHz WIFI network, not 5 GHz, as this camera only supports the 2.4 GHz network.
We need to access the Smart Life application.
And we need to create a free account if we haven’t already done so.
Now click on “+”, “Add a device” and search for “PTZ camera”.
We need to remove the plastic label from our camera, we turn on our camera with its physical button and, once our camera is started and its LED indicator is flashing, we can scan the QR code from our Smart Life application just a few centimetres away from our camera.
If our camera is correctly connected, it should emit a sound, which we confirm using the Smart Life application.
Now our camera is available on Smart Life, so we can see images of an area of our garden from our phone in real time, with no monthly charges, from anywhere in the world.
How to install the Woox outdoor rotating camera
The user wanted to cover a large part of his garden in the corner of his house, so an additional corner bracket had to be purchased to enable the Woox smart camera to be mounted in this corner.
This corner bracket, which is not supplied and can be bought in any DIY shop, has been modified by the user by cutting out a few pieces so that it can be fixed to the wall.
Be very careful when installing any appliance. It is essential to take all the necessary safety precautions and, if in doubt or inexperienced, I recommend that you call in a professional.
This content is for information purposes only and I am not responsible for any damage or incidents that may result from an attempt to reproduce what I show here.
Now the user has been able to attach the camera support to the additional corner bracket and will mount this bracket on the wall of his home.
Once the bracket has been fixed to the wall, we can now install the camera using the fixing accessories included.
Finally, we can install the solar panel.
The user took advantage of the corner bracket purchased as an extra to attach the solar panel bracket and now we can connect the solar panel to the Woox camera.
And now we’ve got our camera connected to its power supply and, as we’ve already connected it to our WIFI network from the Smart Life app, we’ll be able to see the images of the garden from our phone.
Detailed functions of the Woox R3569 camera
Let’s take a look at the detailed functions of this Woox R3569 smart outdoor camera.
Firstly, this camera records in Full HD 1080P with excellent image quality day and night.
It is equipped with PTZ technology, i.e. Pan, Tilt, Zoom:
Pan Pan, allowing the camera to move from left to right to cover a wide area from side to side.
Tilt allows the camera to move vertically, tilting up and down to adjust the viewing angle.
Zooming, as the name suggests, is the ability to zoom in or out to get more detail (zoom in) or a wider view (zoom out).
In short, we can move the camera and adjust the zoom remotely to better monitor an area of our garden.
This camera also incorporates a two-way audio system that lets you communicate with anyone in the vicinity via the Smart Life application. This can be useful when trying to avoid an intrusion attempt by talking to the person who has been detected.
You can take screenshots and video recordings.
You can consult the album of this application at any time.
The camera also features motion detection which, combined with a real-time alert system, enables any suspicious activity to be detected quickly.
You can also buy a micro SD card to insert into the camera and store your camera recordings locally.
You can take out a cloud storage contract to keep your camera recordings.
Theme colour” lets you simply change the background colour of the application.
Confidentiality mode” allows you to temporarily mute the camera image.
The “Night mode” options allow you to choose a night recording method, in black and white.
Or in colour, which will activate the camera lights.
We can adjust the volume of the device.
Motion detection gives us a history of the people detected, which we can see in the ‘Messages’ tab of our application.
Another interesting detail is that the Woox camera has a built-in 85dB siren that can be switched on and off at any time, providing an additional deterrent.
Then, if we access the Woox camera’s additional settings, we can connect it to our Amazon Alexa or Google Home voice assistants.
It’s interesting to be able to see the image of our camera on the screens of these voice assistants by asking for it vocally.
Another option is to check the network to see if the camera is connected to our WIFI network. If the connection is poor, you should consider buying an additional WIFI repeater at home.
We then have the option of subscribing to premium notification services on our phone in the event of a defined event.
Under ‘Basic Function Settings’, we have access to various options, such as the ability to activate or deactivate our camera’s status light, to choose between unidirectional or bidirectional sound and other options.
In “Detection alarm setting”, we can activate or deactivate a motion alarm, define the recording duration of this event, an alarm interval, an alarm sensitivity level, and an interesting detail is the ability to define an activity region, i.e. a specific detection zone to avoid false alarms if, for example, you have a moving element in the zone that can be detected and you are not interested in this element.
Body detection can detect a human presence to avoid false alarms.
In other settings, you can see your camera’s battery level.
You can check for new updates for your Woox camera .
What’s even more interesting is that you can use the different functions of your camera in different automations with different smart devices in this Tuya ecosystem.
This means that if, for example, motion is detected in your camera, you can activate that camera’s siren as well as other sirens on smart devices you have installed in your home.
Detecting movement can also be used to switch on lights in your garden.
Your imagination is your limit! This camera has many interesting criteria to consider.
